Boileou's Marina in Bayview
The Patio Floating Restaurant Fire
At approximately 11:00 PM on March 20, 2009, the Timberlake Fire Protection District was dispatched to a structure fire at 34040 Lakeside Drive in Bayview; The Patio Floating Restaurant at Boileou's Marina.  The chief lives in Bayview and was on scene within minutes to find the restaurant charged with smoke, flames were visible in the rear.  Units from Spirit Lake, Northern Lakes, Sagle, and Kootenai County Fire and Rescue responded to assist.  A total of 27 firefighters responded including 6 engines, 1 tender, 2 ambulances, Timberlake's fire boat, the Navy's fire boat, and 1 chief officer.

The firefighters did an excellent job in keeping the fire contained to the restaurant, there were no injuries.  Damage is estimated at $150,000.  The cause of the fire is under investigation by Chief Krill and Idaho State Deputy Fire Marshal Mark Aamodt.

Ironically, on March 16, 2009, Chief Krill sent a notice to all marina owners and operators in Bayview concerning the need for improved fire prevention at the marinas.  Bayview's marinas include multiple docks with over 2,000 boat slips, over 102 floating homes, and over 50 other floating structures and boat sheds.  Click here for a copy of the March 16, 2009 notice.
